Fans of Birria Y Birria, Hong Kong’s only birrieria, can rejoice as the restaurant has officially opened its doors to a sit-down space in Sai Ying Pun, after a year operating a kitchen in Sheung Wan’s business district.

The Third Street location, opposite Melody, holds 12 seats in a bare-bones spot dedicated to wow Hong Kong with authentic birria tacos. Birria Y Birria specialises in quesatacos (HKD120/2pcs), folded tacos stuffed with meat and Oaxaca cheese that are then fried in spiced beef fat and dipped in consommé, served with pickled onion.

Don’t forget to try their beef birria noodles (HKD60 or HKD80 with cheese) for the right amount of salty consommé and the beef poutine shoestring fries with soup (HKD120), which pairs carbs with beef.

The taco restaurant shares a space with Smashed, the sister brand to a former popular burger spot in Sai Ying Pun, Electric Ave.

Birria Y Birria is open from 12PM till late as well as for a limited time during lunch hours to cater to burger eaters of a new sliders brand, Skinny Dips
