One of our favourite Italian restaurants in Hong Kong, the homestyle menu at Cantina belies its grand Tai Kwun space at the site of the former officers’ mess at the historic Central Police Station.

Verona-born chef Matteo Caripoli has just solved our after-hours dining needs with the launch of the Supper Club at Cantina. This late-night menu is available from 9PM on Fridays and Saturdays until Jun. 8.

The Supper Club menu (HKD688 for 2) features three courses of comforting, authentic Italian dishes to either soak up all that alcohol post-happy hour or energise you for the nightly antics to follow.

The late-night spread begins with Chef Matteo’s signature crispy lasagne, a creative single-layer lasagne made with bolognese sauce, béchamel, and cheese that’s beloved for its crispy, golden top – arguably the best bit of any lasagne. Note that a vegetarian version can be made upon request.

Next up, the Milanese breaded veal cutlet is the meaty main on offer – 450 grams of flattened veal so big that it resembles an elephant’s ear. A generous serving of the limited-edition strawberry flavour of Cantina’s tableside tiramisu ends the meal in true Italiano style.

Also included with the menu are two special cocktails or mocktails Cin Cin (Campari, Mancino vermouth, and maraschino) or zero-alcohol Orchard (pink cabbage cordial and apple and English breakfast tea).
