The site of the late Agora at Tai Kwun has been replaced by another Spanish restaurant this autumn, 1862 Bar de Tapas y Vino, serving regional tapas and wines from the country.
In a reverse from the former Spanish fine-dining restaurant that once stood at the site, 1862 Bar de Tapas y Vino hosts an à-la-carte menu that pairs well with the more casual interior design of the eatery – less polished and more rustic – reflecting the true nature of Spanish food.
The restaurant is still in its soft-opening period, serving tapas dishes, cured meats, Spanish cheese, tortillas, paella, seafood and meat sharing dishes, and classic Spanish desserts.
Agora opened in April 2022 before closing down in November 2023 to switch to a private kitchen model, with chef Antonio Oviedo still leading.
