The only bar to supersede Hong Kong’s Bar Leone in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 is Handshake Speakeasy from Mexico City, grabbing the number 1 spot on this year’s list.

Notable for being the only bar in Mexico with a lab space dedicated to meticulous molecular mixology, two members of the Handshake Speakeasy team will be strutting their stuff in Hong Kong for one night only this month, coming to Lobster Bar and Grill at the Island Shangri-La hotel in Admiralty.

On Nov. 7, Handshake Speakeasy general manager Daniela Jardon is set to join head bartender Javier Rodríguez to showcase four exclusive cocktails (HKD158 each) that highlight the Mexico City watering hole’s signature appreciation of rare vintage spirits.

This quartet of truly remarkable tipples ranges from the fresh and floral Orange Blossom blended with Monkey 47 gin, vanilla, jasmine, orange blossom, lemon, and whey to the aromatic and complex Pandan One featuring Martell Noblige cognac, pandan, and coconut.
