Every year, Hong Kongers’ love affair with afternoon tea ramps up a notch as the festive season approaches, with a flurry of especially indulgent limited-time tea sets unleashed at hotels and restaurants throughout November and December.

Standing out from the festive teatime pack is this afternoon tea – “The Allure of Red” is its official name – at Conrad hotel’s lobby restaurant. A first-time collaboration with Christian Louboutin Beauty inspired by the esteemed French brand’s new Fétiche fragrance collection, the red-hued set is the ultimate in holiday glamour. Just 12 sets are available each day until Jan. 4, 2025.

This afternoon tea veers from the traditional tiered presentation and is instead served in courses like a fine-dining meal, accentuated by black cutlery and tableware. The set kicks off with four savoury delicacies the likes of foie gras terrine and beetroot-marinated tuna with blackberry.

The sweet course ensues, showcasing an assortment of eye-catching treats such as raspberry chocolate mousse cake, strawberry vanilla choux, and white peach and osmanthus panna cotta.

The teatime experience ends on a high with classic and cranberry scones alongside clotted cream and raspberry for slathering. Instead of tea or coffee, diners may opt for the special Mystic Lady mocktail, made with alcohol-free Seedlip Spice 94 gin, the hotel’s signature sparkling tea, pomegranate, lavender, coconut, and lemon.

The set is priced at HKD358 for one and HKD688 for two on weekdays and HKD368 for one and HKD698 for two on weekends and public holidays, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. As an early Christmas present, while supplies last, each guest will be gifted with a complimentary Christian Louboutin Beauty trial pack of fragrance, lipstick, and foundation.
