Unlike in our SAR neighbour Macau, authentic Portuguese cuisine is not as ubiquitous in Hong Kong.

This coming month, JW Marriott Hotel’s steakhouse, Flint, is making Portuguese dining much easier to come by with a four-course dinner menu that’s available from May 1 till May 31.

Priced at HKD900 per person, the menu showcases an array of classic Portuguese dishes, kicking off with a choice of bolinhos de bacalhau (salt cod croquettes) or polvo à lagareiro (roasted octopus). Portugal’s iconic chorizo, kale, and potato soup, caldo verde, takes centre stage in the second course.

For the mains, there’s a choice of arroz de marisco (seafood rice) or frango assado (grilled spring chicken). One of our favourite-ever desserts, Portuguese or otherwise, is the menu closer: serradura. Also known as sawdust pudding, this comforting sweet treat features layers of Chantilly cream, crumbled Maria biscuits, and seasonal berries.
