Taco lovers are in for a real treat in this city known for its dearth of authentic Mexican restaurants with the arrival of Tacos 1986 from Los Angeles later this week.

Tacos 1986 founders Jorge “Joy” Alvarez-Tostado and Victor Delgado are flying in from the City of Angels, well known for hosting the best taco scene in the USA, to take over the Taqueria Super Macho space in Soho from Jul. 15 to 17.

The three-day pop-up, on from 5PM till late each day and 12PM to 3PM on Jul. 17, showcases the signature beloved Tacos 1986 items that have seen it branch out to locations in Las Vegas and New York City, all crafted with made-to-order corn tortillas.

These tortillas can be ordered in four styles: taco (HKD68), quesadilla (HKD88), mulita (HKD88) of two tortillas sandwiched with cheese and protein, and vampiro (HKD88) crispy tortilla, or tostada, topped with melted cheese.

They each come with a choice of adobada (grilled al pastor pork), carne asada (grilled marinated steak), pollo asado (grilled chicken), or vegan hongos (grilled mushroom marinated in salsa macha) filling and Tijuana-style toppings of onion, coriander, guacamole, and an assortment of smoky house-made salsas (salsa ranchera, salsa verde, salsa morita, and salsa macha).
