Content creator Kunbifusion, known by his moniker African Prince 非洲王子 online, has launched a new Nigerian-inspired vodka drink in Hong Kong.

Red to Fly is a reimagination of Zobo, a native tea drink to Nigeria and West African, made with hibiscus, pineapple, ginger, and a dash of vodka for this 5% alcoholic version.

Brewed locally in Hong Kong by Mak’s Brewery in Tsuen Wan, co-creator and partner Zoe Sung wants to bring visibility to Hong Kong’s small yet spirited African community with Red to Fly, a community numbering in the thousands.

The Red to Fly is available on a limited-release until Oct. 31 at Africa Coffee & Tea, SLOW COW Beef Bowl (Central), Ciclo, G.O.D. (Central), Mono Skewers (Causeway Bay), Cha’s By The Time (Central), Loong Bar By Mak’s Beer, and HIGH BAR By Mak’s Beer

A series of African cultural events will be hosted this month and next to promote the drink and African culture, including the Afrowave Boat Party on Sep. 5, Supper Club on Sep. 18 at Wooo Coffee, and an Afro DJ party on Oct. 14.

Kunbifusion specialises in content creation online about African food, Arsenal football club, and the fusion of Cantonese and African culture. He has recently released two songs “African Prince” and “Char Siu Rice (with Chili Oil)”.

Rubin Verebes is the Managing Editor of Foodie, the guiding force behind the publication's viral stories. With a knack for cooking up mouthwatering profiles, crafting immersive restaurant reviews, and dishing out tasty features, Rubin tells the great stories of Hong Kong's dining scene.
