Made in Singapore, but probably to be perfected in Hong Kong, Two Men Bagel House arrives in Sai Ying Pun for your daily dose of New York bagels.

These loaded doughy sandwiches buck the trend of your average New York bagel shop, with the polite and expected fillings of smoked fish and meats, green vegetables, and schmears, instead delivering heavy mouthfuls. The bagels are hand-rolled but sadly not boiled with that honey sweet New York City water.

Soft-opening in Sai Ying Pun, Two Men Bagel House begin with the classics – Luxe (HKD88) with cream cheese and lox, 2Bac (HKD78) loaded with bacon and scrambled eggs, Mars Yard (HKD99) packed with roast beef, jalapeno relish, and horseradish cream, and Chickies (HKD88) with pesto and smoked honey mustard meeting a chicken breast – before the crazy fillings expectedly land in the coming months.

Bagels come in five flavours – plain, sesame, all-sorts (presumably everything seasoning), garlic & onion, and cheddar & jalapeno, with four types of cream cheese – whipped (HKD38), scallion (HKD38), peanut butter & jam (HKD38), and snow white (HKD38) with dulce de leche and mixed berry jam.

Seating around the back of the store offers some peace from the noisy street.

Two Men Bagel House has operated in Singapore since 2014 and currently runs five stores island-wide, with a one-year-old store in Bangkok.
