Hong Kong’s first South African experience store, SPECTACULAR South Africa, will debut at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay from 9–26 September.

Organised by Wines of South Africa (WOSA) and supported by Brand South Africa and Wesgro, the shop offers a variety of cultural experiences related to South Africa, its wine, food and beverages, as well as its arts and culture. Shoppers can explore the diversity of South African wine while immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere.

SPECTACULAR South Africa adopts magnificent South African vineyard scenery as its key visual. Inside the shop, some 130 wines are displayed according to themes, including Cap Classique, the South African version of champagne made in the traditional method, the iconic white wine Chenin Blanc and the unique South African red wine Pinotage. Other themes include cool-climate wine and classic and new generation wines. Customers can take part in guided tours led by experts to explore the wide array of South African wine available.

In addition, WOSA has specifically arranged wines from South Africa’s most prestigious wine auction, Cape Winemakers Guild Auction, to come to Hong Kong. For the first time, HK wine connoisseurs can experience these 47 limited-release, premium and collectible South African wines served with Coravin under guidance, bidding live on the bottles via Bonhams’ online auction platform on Saturday, 2 October.

Besides wine, the stop has a fine selection of authentic South African delicacies, including biltong (dried beef), Cheaky Co Chyps (chickpea snacks), spices, sauces and craft gin. There is also a special tea counter serving South Africa’s famous herbal tea known as rooibos, African coffee and homemade cookies. Other South African and South African-inspired lifestyle products featured include fashion accessories and well-being merchandise.

The shop showcases a gallery on the first floor exhibiting paintings by South African artist Azael Langa, who uses smoke as a medium in his drawings, and handcrafted household items from The Craft + Design Institute.

At the conservation zone on the same level, customers can learn more about South African conservation work in relation to the environment, wildlife and wine.

South Africa is called the “Rainbow Nation” because of its cultural diversity, and Friday, 24 September is South Africa’s Heritage Day. Visit SPECTACULAR South Africa to experience the country’s culture and make your September memories as colourful as a rainbow!
