Bistrot’s Suzette The best new restaurants to try in Hong Kong September 2026

It’s been about half a year since chef Tiffany Lo closed her Wan Chai bistro jean may following five years of operation in Hong Kong. Now, the French-trained chef has joined hands with Silver Spoon Restaurants as a consultant to open Parisian-style Bistrot’s Suzette in Kai Tak. The menu encompasses the chef’s “modern bistronomy” philosophy of using high-quality, seasonal ingredients to prepare classic bistro dishes in the indoor-outdoor space – think pâté de campagne (HKD188), French onion soup (HKD158), steak frites (HKD358), and duck confit (HKD238)

IL PRESIDENTE in Central is the latest concept to launch from the powerhouse team behind Wan Chai’s viral Italian eatery Trattoria Felino, restaurateur Félix De Arriaga Balanzat and chef Marcello Scognamiglio. With plenty of swagger and style à la the 80s and 90s, IL PRESIDENTE couples effortless hospitality with bold bar offerings and a classic regional Italian food programme, from antipasti of braised beef tripe (HKD178) and fritto misto (HKD198), to homemade pasta plates like the cannellone filled with spinach and ricotta (HKD218), to the showshopping sharing main of pan-fried veal cutlet (HKD588) stuffed with smoked ham and fontina.

At QUAN, a member of the Lai Sun Dining portfolio, Fujian cuisine takes centre stage, with the five Chinese elements (earth, water, metal, fire, wood) inspiring the chef’s recipes. On the dinner tasting menu (HKD1,880 pp), beautifully presented seafood dishes, such as the chilled mantis shrimp with sea urchin and lotus glutinous rice with red flower crab, are heavy hitters.

Like QUAN (see above), Yun is another new modern Chinese fine-diner with an impressive pedigree, this time located in Sheung Wan. This open-kitchen concept is overseen by acclaimed Taiwanese chef Shih Ching-Hui, formerly of Taipei’s two-starred Yu Kapo. Diners should be well aware of the many restrictions associated with Yun’s 2.5-hour lunch and dinner omakase (HKD2,000 pp) starring ultra-premium ingredients: you must be a seafood eater, there is a non-refundable 50% deposit, and you can only make a booking once every three months (though the restaurant is already fully booked through November). Yun’s wine list is elite, particularly for a Chinese concept.
