Lai Chi Kok’s venerable Spanish restaurant Rustico has launched a new à-la-carte menu expanding their vision through the wide expanse of Spanish – and not just Barcelona’s best.

Valencia-born executive chef Javier Gomez Barajas traverses every direction of the country for new flavours to bring to the north of Kowloon, including his hometown, Madrid, Galicia, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Segovia, Navarre, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, and Andalusia.

From the north of Spain, a classic cantabric anchovy 00’ with roasted bell pepper (HKD98) from Basque Country, clams a la marinera (HKD158) from Galicia, and the pochas beans and quail escabeche stew (HKD298) from La Rioja arrive on the new menu, suitable for sharing across the table.

Onwards to the centre of Spain and its coastal regions, we recommend the “Pepito de Carne”  Wagyu beef “bocata” (HKD188) from Madrid and the chicken and wild mushroom paella (HKD358) and “torra de xulles” grilled Spanish milk-fed baby lamb (HKD238) from Valencia. The Wagyu sandwich comes in two servings, perfect for a dinner date.

Located just across an MTR exit, Rustico feels more Spanish than most of its competitors locally.
