As Shakespeare once wrote, ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow.’ We wipe away tears as we say goodbye to our favourite Sichuan noodle shop, Dandan Soul Food, which closed at the beginning of this year. Opened by Jerome Plassat and his Sichuanese wife in Sheung Wan, the dynamic duo brought an authentic taste of Sichuan to the Fragrant Harbour with their seriously addictive dandan noodles, tofu skin and juicy dumplings.

We wish them luck on exploring greener (and more delicious) pastures and will just have to wait and see where they pop up next. For now, we’ll have to suffer through some serious numbing peppercorn and spice withdrawal – or comb the town for a comparable fix!

If you want to revel in the memories, check out our past review of Dandan Soul Food here.
