And life in Hong Kong really needs frosting now…
From today, American chain Cinnabon – founded in 1985 in Seattle and now based in Atlanta – is baking up its beloved cinnamon rolls and more for the Hong Kong masses.
Comfort food at its finest, Cinnabon’s rolls are sure to bring joy to all those craving a major ooey-gooey cinnamon hit – it’s the little joys that are important now more than ever.
Cinnabon’s Classic Cinnamon Roll ($38 for Classic, $29 for MiniBon or $30 for 4-piece BonBites) is the ultimate winner for us, with the perfect soft, chewy, bouncy layers of rolled dough packed with the brand’s trademarked aromatic Makara Cinnamon and iced generously with their signature to-die-for cream-cheese-based frosting. Coming in at a respectable 880 calories for a pretty darn huge Classic Roll and 350 calories for a MiniBon, these rolls as an occasional treat won’t break your calorie bank, and because they’re so big, they’re perfect for sharing in order to cut those kcals in half.
We also tried the even more rich Chocobon ($42 for Classic, $32 for MiniBon or $33 for 4-piece BonBites), which tastes a lot like brownie batter, and the nut-topped Caramel Pecanbon ($46 for Classic or $35 for MiniBon), but for us purists, the Classic Cinnamon Rolls are the way to go.
If you’re on the move, you can opt for a Roll-on-the-Go ($32) – bite-sized cinnamon roll pieces packed conveniently in a paper cup for eating with a fork – or a bag of crispy, crunchy Cinnamon Chips ($36).
In addition to hot and iced coffee drinks (from espresso and macchiato to cinnamon-flavoured cold brew), also on Cinnabon’s bevvy menu is a range of decadent speciality drinks such a Mocha (or Oreo) Chillata ($36), topped with mounds of whipped cream. We suggest opting for a tart, refreshing Yuzu Grapefruit Cinnafizzie ($35) or Homemade Lemonade Soda ($31) to cut through all that carby richness.
Verdict
Cinnabon’s world-famous Classic Cinnamon Rolls are just as deliciously comforting as we remember from childhood, and we’re so happy they’ve found a new home in Hong Kong. Open daily from 11am–9pm.
