It’s an understatement to say that Hong Kong’s F&B scene has been affected by recent events hitting the city. Perhaps many will be unsurprised by another restaurant closure in the news.

We will say that Alain Ducasse’s one-Michelin-starred refined French restaurant, Rech, within the InterContinental hotel wasn’t one we were expecting to see close quite so suddenly, and just three years after opening. But then maybe we are having trouble getting used to the sheer volume of restaurants shuttering their doors each week. We will certainly miss Rech’s sublime seaweed-flavoured butter along with the beautiful seafood dishes that delighted us on past visits there.

The InterContinental issued a media release this morning that indicated a new restaurant from Ducasse Paris will take over the space following the hotel’s renovation and rebranding, which will see it become Regent Hong Kong in 2022.
