Much-loved Hong Kong mango dessert chain Hui Lau Shan is being sued for unpaid rent. As SCMP reported, Hui Lau Shan was first sued by PARKnSHOP last year for HK$850,000 in unpaid rent and fees.

Now, another landlord has served Hui Lau Shan Holdings Company with a winding-up petition to the High Court for months of unpaid rent, and the company has been served with at least six legal actions relating to unpaid rent since last November.

The brand is under the umbrella of the mainland China catering firm Royal Dynasty International Holding Company, which owns over 260 shops globally.

Hui Lau Shan has been serving mango-based desserts since they expanded from herbal tea and jelly into their first dessert range. They created their famed recipe for mango sago in Hong Kong back in 1992, with the city going wild for the dessert and solidifying it as a favourite sweet treat to this day.

The chain has also just expanded to Singapore, returning to the city after closing its shop in Orchard Road over 15 years ago, reopening in Serangoon in January 2020, with two more stores planned for Chinatown and Jurong East later this year.
