Did you know that the United States is the world’s largest producer and exporter of cheese? Not only that, it’s home to the largest variety of cheeses on the planet!
This November, the USA Cheese Guild is launching a month-long pop-up website, allowing customers to discover American cheese culture, fabulous cheesy recipes and more, all in a fun, interactive setting.
Why USA cheese?
The United States alone produces a quarter of the world’s cheese, mostly in large, state-of-the-art facilities, but also by some of the world’s finest artisanal cheesemakers. There is always a big focus on high-quality ingredients and production techniques, which attests to the USA’s long list of award-winning cheeses. With a cheesemaking history dating back to the early 1600s and an international cheese exporting and trading industry that began during the Industrial Revolution, the USA has long been at the forefront of the cheese world.
The United States produces over 1,000 varieties of cheese, inspired by global cultures and the American innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. While the USA excels at producing world-famous cheeses like mozzarella, Cheddar, Brie and many others, there are also cheeses that you won’t find anywhere else on the planet. These quintessentially American cheeses are known as American originals.
Cooking with USA cheese
USA cheese is incredibly diverse and versatile. On the pop-up website, you’ll get to browse through a wide selection of recipes that can be made with USA cheese – from classic dishes such as grilled cheese sandwiches and cheeseburgers to contemporary creations like provolone eggplant pizza and sweet treats like mascarpone pancakes and ricotta pumpkin pie. Video tutorials are also available to guide you through the steps.

The pop-up website has come up with a very entertaining way to learn all about USA cheese: a cheese jukebox! Browse through the “records”, each of which features a cheese and cheesy character on the cover. Click on the records to reveal fun facts, music and more!

If you love taking cheesy pictures almost as much as you love cheese itself, you’ll have to follow the USA Cheese Guild on Instagram – both to drool over the delicious pictures of the fine cheeses and cheese-centric dishes AND to try their wacky filters. You’ll feel just like a 1950s jukebox character!
