Southsiders, rejoice! Grégoire Michaud’s beloved artisanal bakery Bakehouse opens in Stanely this June. In classic Bakehouse tradition, special creations inspired by the seaside location, in addition to crowd favourites from the original menu like the sourdough bread range and egg tarts, will be available here. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 8am–6pm.

This eco-friendly wellness brand returns to BaseHall in June for a longer-term gig with its “Japaneasy” deli concept, benko by nüte. As well as plant-based offerings such as cold ume tofu mazemen, nori lentil bolognese and crispy chilli garlic chive omelette don, benko by nüte also features chicken and fish options in their “kenko” bento bowls such as wasabi soy-seared cured mackerel don, yuzu chicken don and sencha market fish ochazuke. A great light and lean meal option, each dish served up by benko by nüte comes with nutritional information stating the calories, protein, fibre and saturated fat content, with low- and high-carb options available upon request. Blend & Grind (Kennedy Town)Foodie and , Hong Kong

As of June, Blend & Grind has a beautiful – bright, airy, welcoming – 2,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space in Kennedy Town to add to its roster. We paid a visit on the day of soft opening, and we predict it will soon become a packed-out neighbourhood hang-out, from dawn to dusk. During the day, the coffee-focused brunch menu lists dishes like açai bowls, bagel sarnies (with the bagels courtesy of sister brand R&R), lemon Dutch baby pancakes and lamb shakshuka, while come 5pm, it’s sharing plates and grilled bao tacos matched up with B&G’s signature cocktails (we’ve yet to come across a better espresso martini in the 852). Plus, there’s a large pet-friendly area in the front just calling out to our furry friends. Open daily, 8am–11pm.

BluHouse at Rosewood Hong KongFoodie and , Hong Kong

Rosewood Hong Kong has set the bar high with its F&B offerings, from Indian stunner CHAAT to refined Cantonese eatery The Legacy House, but the luxury hotel is upping the ante even further with the opening of BluHouse on Thursday, 9 June. Located on the ground floor of the hotel right along the iconic Avenue of Stars, the harbour views are complemented by classic Italian cuisine served up in a relaxed space. Chef de Cuisine Giovanni Galeota, a native of Naples, oversees the kitchen of both BluHouse and The Dining Room by BluHouse, which is set to open a few weeks later. An elevated and environmentally conscious Italian restaurant within BluHouse, The Dining Room offers an exclusive private dining room and wine cellar. Open daily, 11:30am–10:30pm, with dinner-only The Dining Room open from 6pm on Thursday the 23rd.

The 23rd edition of city’super’s annual Sakagura Fair, themed after a tourist trail visiting Japan’s iconic sake breweries, is back this year at the Japanese brand’s Causeway Bay outlet. Complete with a guide map to Japanese bus stops for Insta-worthy photo opportunities, the fair showcases over 300 sake and liqueur brands, including some new to the HK market, From 13–19 June, customers can get a 12% discount on purchases of two or more 720ml bottles of Nanbubijin Super Frozen Daiginjo Namagen (priced originally at $560 per bottle) at city’super’s online shop. Exclusive novelties related to selected promotional sake purchases and prizes await.

Home-grown coffee concept Creo by Brentwood has opened two outlets this summer, in Kennedy Town and Kowloon Bay, with each shop inspired by one of the five Chinese elements. Each space champions local artisans; for instance, at the wood-themed Kowloon Bay shop, HK Timberbank has utilised locally reclaimed wood to craft the coffee tables and coasters (pictured above), while over in Kennedy Town, the water theme is enhanced by the custom-made “wave” coffee mugs and tableware in shades of blue by ceramic studio Lai Chan Kee in Lai Chi Kok. In terms of the food and drink, the home-grown theme continues. Creo’s house “Vivid” blend is made in partnership with local speciality roaster Redback Coffee, and the breads and pastries are sourced at popular local bakeries Miam and Alive Eatery by Alive Food.

Hansik Goo’s 2nd anniversary dinner menu with Chef Mingoo Kang (7–8 July)Foodie and , Hong Kong

We recommend booking in ASAP for the second anniversary menu at Michelin-starred Hansik Goo, where Chef Mingoo Kang is braving the HK quarantine period to personally serve diners at his acclaimed modern Korean eatery. A tribute to the guests who have shown constant support to Hansik Goo during the past two pandemic years, the special eight-course dinner menu ($1,888/person) on 7 and 8 July will include both signature dishes and seasonal creations, as well as the debut of the restaurant’s refreshed Korean wine selection and wine-pairing programme. Heimat, highly anticipated since the start of the year, has finally opened, presenting refined German cuisine by Chef Peter Find, the former executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong for over a decade. The six-course tasting menu ($1,280/persondraws inspiration from Berlin to Bavaria and beyond, showcasing dishes such as Königsberger Klopse, an oversized pork dumpling made from a mix of local heritage pork, gherkins and capers in a cream sauce, and Frühlings Erbsensuppe, a cream-free pea soup accented with ocean trout that’s locally smoked at Aberdeen’s Victoria Island Smokehouse (vegetarian and vegan tasting menus can be ordered upon request). We’re especially excited for the bespoke gummy bear trolley, a fun and fitting ending to each meal at Heimat. A celebration of all things German, Heimat’s wine list features mostly German varietals alongside German gins and digestifs, while the restaurant’s design is a mix of traditional German architectural elements combined with the minimalistic style of legendary German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Notably for the month June, white asparagus tasting menus ($1,368 for 5 courses or $1,488 for 6 courses) are also available, spotlighting this delicious seasonal ingredient. Two famed noodle brands –Japanese ramen specialist Ippudo Hong Kong and local wonton noodle expert Mak’s Noodle – have united to offer a limited-time ramen series featuring Ippudo’s signature tori niboshi broth made with bonito flakes, dried sardine and dried seaweed topped up with Mak’s homemade shrimp wontons, seared scallops, clams, slow-cooked BBQ pork and soft-boiled egg (shio wonton ramen). For a meatier version, head to Ippudo offshoot Metro Tonkotsu Base at Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay for the shio tonkotsu ramen.

Kicho & UshidokiFoodie and , Hong Kong

Farm-to-table Japanese dining group AP Place Hong Kong Co (the group behind Tsukada Nojo, Bijin Nabe and NOJO Ramen in the 852) has firmly set its sights on Central, launching two upmarket meat-speciality restaurants on the first floor of Manning House in June. At omakase-style kappo eatery Kicho, opening in early June, the focus is on free-range Kuro Satsuma chicken from Kagoshima in its 16-course dining ritual, spanning starters, soup, charcoal-grilled yakitori, slow-cooked chicken, vegetables, main dish and dessert by Chef Chikashi Yoshida. Opening later in the month, the star of Ushidoki’s tongue-to-tail kaiseki menu by Chef Yoshiyuki Kikuchi is the prized Odagyu A4 Wagyu from Kagoshima’s Oda Chikusan ranch. Both open daily for dinner.

Although the five-star hotel’s refurbishment is not fully complete (the guest rooms and suites will open later this summer), Le Méridien Hong Kong, Cyberport has already unveiled four exciting new F&B concepts. At lobby level, izakaya Umami (pictured) offers traditional Japanese favourites, including, sushi, sashimi and Wagyu sukiyaki, in a modern space with a pet-friendly Japanese-style garden (be sure to visit the koi and turtles). Right next door, there’s Latitude 22, the hotel’s signature bar and lounge, where it’s coffee by day and wine and cocktails at night. On the fourth floor, all-day diner Southside Bistro has an enviable location poolside facing Cyberport’s expansive garden; it serves up a mix of brasserie fare and modern pan-Asian dishes. The jewel in Le Méridien’s crown is Nam Fong on the third floor, an elegant restaurant showcasing Chef Bosco Li’s creative Chinese dishes.

Hong Kong’s first (and only) zero-waste shop, Live Zero has opened its third outlet, this time in a 700-square-foot space just a few minutes’ walk from Tai Koo MTR station. Head here for a wide range of locally sourced plastic-free products, from pantry staples and organic foods to all-natural cleaning products, baby products, vegan beauty brands and even zero-waste feminine-hygiene items. Foodie and , Hong KongIn anticipation of new Mediterranean restaurant Bianco & Rosso’s debut here later this summer, the B&R team (General Manager Luca Andrei and Head Chef Ban Jee Min) will be popping up at Test Kitchen for a sneak preview of the menu. Notably, Bianco & Rosso’s beverage programme focuses on vermouth and fortified wines. Sushiyoshi’s New Summer Omakase Menu (until August 13)

This beautiful collaboration between Chef Hiroki and sushi master Chef Kazunari Araki at Sushiyoshi is refreshing and full of gastronomic delights. The 18-course Omakase menu is to be savored from the first bite to the last. It is always nice a treat to see the kitchen and service teams come together to deliver a meal that calls you back for more. The menu has many highlights, including Horse Mackerel with Cucumber and Muscat Grapes, Abalone Soufflé, Sardines Tartare on Onion Chips and many more. The ingredients are super fresh and the craft of the masters is evident. HK$3,480 plus service charge per person.
