Just as we have finished a heavy Christmas and New Year’s Eve period, Hong Kong is not ready to leave the festive season yet – this time, it’s Chinese New Year that’s coming up! Hong Kong is busy painting itself red to celebrate the Year of the Dragon from Feb. 10 to 13.
Chinese New Year means one main thing, and that’s eating! We have prepared a list of the best Chinese New Year menus in Hong Kong for dining out with friends and family this 2024, from spicy Sichuan and Chongqing fare to traditional Cantonese plates and platters.

Mott 32
Refined and palatial Cantonese restaurant Mott 32 is introducing a special Chinese New Year à-la-carte menu to celebrate the Lunar New Year from Feb. 10 to 24. Designed by group executive chef Lee Man-sing, start off a meal with Mott 32’s whole lobster and abalone lo hei (HKD1380) for maximum luck. Prosperity and abundance continue with the crispy duck with taro (HKD380), lotus-leaf rice (HKD330), and bird’s nest in bamboo pith (HKD680). The regular menu is also available throughout Chinese New Year to mix and match festive specials and classic dim sum bites.

RÚ
Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West houses RÚ, an artful restaurant that explores classic Cantonese specialities made with vibrant seasonal ingredients, with dishes elevated to complement the luxurious decor. RÚ’s à-la-carte Chinese New Year menu is available from Feb. 10 to 24 and includes dishes of sautéed sea cucumber with scallion (HKD288), braised pig’s trotters (HKD488), and pan-fried semi-dried oysters with honey sauce (HKD388 for 4).

Chilli Fagara
Hong Kong’s oldest-operating Sichuan restaurant hits back this year from Jan. 15 to Feb. 24 with a fiery Chinese New Year curated by Soho mainstay and Chongqing native chef Chan Kai Ying. The menu features hard-hitting meaty and spicy dishes such as ma la braised pork knuckles (HKD498) and hearty braised lamb stew (HKD498), with salty appetisers of golden honeycomb tofu (HKD328) and stir-fried pea sprouts (HKD398) matching the heat.

Sing Yin Cantonese Dining
Housed inside Kowloon’s W Hong Kong, Sing Yin Cantonese Dining ushers in auspicious lunar moods with three weeks of Chinese New Year specials on from Feb. 2 to 29. Guests can either dine on The Majestic Lunar Dragon Feast set menu (HKD1,388 pp) to savour a wide variety or order à la carte. Special mentions include the specially priced sautéed lobster with wild mushrooms and asparagus (HKD888) and mixed abalone salad with premier garnish (HKD888).

Lai Ching Heen
Regent Hong Kong’s starry Lai Ching Heen is hosting a rouge and revelous Chinese New Year celebration with chefs Lau Yiu Fai and Cheung Man Sang’s six-course Fat Choy set menu (HKD2,088pp), available from Jan. 16 to Feb. 25. Their Cantonese luxuries are set to wow, including their signature Buddha Jumping Over the Wall poon choi, wok-fried Kagoshima Wagyu, Inaniwa udon with grouper fillet, and sweetened red bean soup.

Jade
Borrowing the fine-dining concept from The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore, Jade at the brand’s property in Aberdeen matches authentic local plates with stunning sea views. The panoramic view from southern Hong Kong Island is as tasty as Jade’s Chinese New Year set menu (HKD11,888 for 10). Gather your friends to split a roasted whole suckling pig, braised eight-head abalone, baked crab shell, roasted crispy chicken, and glutinous rice dumpling in sweetened red bean soup.
