Before discovering this place, our roti search in Hong Kong was dire. Fear not, Yuen Long’s Banana Boy (香蕉仔) takeaway shop has saved us with their authentic and sweet banana roti’s, made identical to Thailand’s version.

Located in a street level shop south of Yuen Long MTR and YOHO Mall, Banana Boy dishes out nine different sweet and savoury flavours, made the same way as the Thai do with a doughy pancake cooked with oil on a searing hot plate.

The original banana roti (HKD35) comes with the typical banana, egg, condensed milk, and dark chocolate toppings and dustings. Their ovomaltine (HKD38) shares a heavy crunchy chocolate topping, whilst the peanut butter banana roti (HKD38) and lotus biscoff banana roti (HKD38) score high in the sugary rankings.

The Thai roti shop is closed on Mondays and sells roti’s from 3PM to 9:30PM or whenever stock sells out. Go early to avoid disappointment.
