The forces of Hong Kong’s anti-corruption body the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) are flexing their creative spirits to open up a new café pop-up themed after Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love film this November.
To celebrate the ICAC’s 50th year anniversary, the café, named 1974, will open on the first floor of the body’s North Point headquarters on Nov. 15 to educate the public about what the body does.
The café is dressed in the 1960s Hong Kong style portrayed in the romantic drama, as shown in a teaser clip announcing the opening.
The goal of the opening of ICAC’s 1974 café is to educate the public on the “ICAC Coffee” concept, a popular phrase in the Hong Kong zeitgeist that’s wielded by the ICAC to invite citizens to assist in corruption investigations by enjoying a cup of coffee with investigators.
