Lovers of Sheung Wan’s Poppy and the former Aster by Poppy can now rejoice as the two sister brands have come together to form Poppy & Aster in Wan Chai.
Dishing out its saucy and uber-popular chicken, beef, and fish burgers for lunch under the Aster arm from 12PM to 3:30PM daily, Poppy arrives at night from 6PM to 10PM serving a similar menu to its sister restaurant in Sheung Wan.
With a focus on modern European dishes with Asian influences, the Poppy menu brings the region’s flavours to Hong Kong with plates like the rusa toast (HKD78), drunken prawn (HKD88), squid “bolognese” (HKD268), and chicken rice with Sichuan spice sauce (HKD268).
The menu at the new Wan Chai restaurant deviates slightly from the original Poppy in Sheung Wan, with new Asian-inspired European dishes expected to debut in due time.
Poppy & Aster is the brainchild of chef Ronald Nelson, who formerly operated in the Spanish kitchens of Pica Pica and BÀRBAR.
