Hot on the heels of the latest Beef & Liberty location launching in Wong Chuk Hang (we at Foodie are already frequent visitors) comes the announcement that Group Executive Chef of Greater China Restaurant Company, Uwe Opocensky, is leaving to pursue new opportunities.

As of mid-September 2019, Chef Opocensky plans to return to the hotel industry, but UWE will officially close its doors on 17 August. If you didn’t have a chance to eat at this beautifully intimate fine-dining restaurant, it may be easier to enjoy his cuisine now back in larger hotel format.

GCRC Managing Director Will Bray says, “It has been amazing working with Uwe these past three years, and we are grateful to him for his contributions to our humble hamburger restaurant, Beef & Liberty, our sister brand, Leaves & Liberty, as well as for the creativity and flair he showed to our guests at Restaurant UWE. We wish him the very best in his new role.”

Best wishes, Chef Opocensky!
