Summer has seen a bunch of new restaurants opening on the Kowloon side serving French bistro food. Among them is Scarlett, a restaurant that has already proven to be  successful in Bangkok and now has opened a shop in Hong Kong. The food here is tasty and honest, with a decent cheese platter and top notch wine. They've also just rolled out a new menu full of lunch and brunch options for the ravenous francophile.

Starting in July, there is a full brunch menu, for the morning birds.  Some offerings are more authentically French, such as poached eggs and Merguez (spicy lamb sausage), and eggs with duck gravy.  For those not feeling as adventurous, there are also more traditional breakfast options, such as the eggs benedict and buttermilk pancakes.

Scarlett has also added daily lunch sets to their menu. These include an appetiser and either a fish or meat entree.  If you've saved room, you can add a dessert or coffee. Lunch won't break the bank, with prices ranging from $88 to $98.

Oyster lovers note: every Wednesday from 6pm on, 6 Fine de Claire oysters are accompanied by half a bottle of Muscadet 2013 Sur Lie for only HK$158. You know where to find us on a Wednesday evening then...

So go ahead, order a few off of the new menus. The burger is not half as exciting as the beef bourguignon, so definitely stick to the French favourites. Also worth a nibble is the cheese platter, executed tremendously in true French style, and paired well with their extensive wine selection.

Scarlett can be very very busy around dinner time, so your best bet is to call ahead.
