In recent years, we’ve all tried to reduce the amount of disposables we use in our daily lives by bringing our own bottles, containers and cutlery to work and school and when out and about. But lunch boxes and bags are often heavy and take up a lot of space, so sometimes we conveniently “forget” to take them along with us, creating even more waste.
What is Pockeat?
Pocket + eat = Pockeat. We desperately need a lighter AND more eco-friendly option for our lunches and snacks than disposable plastic bags and containers. That’s why we’re so excited about Pockeat, a rollable and reusable lunch bag with a trendy design. Household supplier agooday first released Pockeat three years ago in Taiwan, providing a fashionable way to eat sustainably.
By rolling the handle, you can adjust the height of the lunch bag to your preference when holding different volumes of food (up to two litres). Three-litre bags are also available for big eaters like us!
Tell me more!
Pockeat is very light because of its outer patterned layer, which is made of polyester. Unlike plastic sandwich bags, Pockeat allows you to hold hot liquid-based meals (and slurp from your pocket!). With the inner layer made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), it is stretchable, transparent and oil resistant, and it holds food with temperatures up to 120°C.
Points to note
Pockeat is not microwave safe and, when using it, avoid carrying foods with strong flavours or natural colourants like curries. Methods like using coffee grounds wrapped in tissue paper, orange/tangerine skin or vinegar mixed with soda water can help to remove any lingering smells from your previous meals.
Where to buy
For now, Pockeat only has physical shops in Taiwan, but fear not – Hong Kong foodies can pre-order Pockeat online via these shops:
- Delightfully Green
- Ztore
