The visionaries behind chic speakeasy Foxglove, mysterious Mrs Pound and quirky Dr Fern’s Gin Parlour are back with a delightful concept that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and spawn some serious food envy on your social media feed. The daring Chinese desserts at eat darling eat already have us drooling, and the shop is keen on spreading the love (and calories) at its grand opening on Saturday, 2 March 2019 with a giveaway of its signature pineapple buns to the first 100 customers (3:15–5pm).
Open for lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, this eccentric and stylish addition to Hong Kong’s sweets scene presents an ensemble of traditional and iconic desserts that have been refreshingly modernised, like Sichuan pepper ice cream with candied bacon ($48) and sweet potato tong sui ($68), sweet potato soup with chocolate cake and taro ice cream. Expect familiar flavours of black sesame, red bean, almond and ginger to make appearances on the menu as well.
Hungry diners can also dig into a slew of savoury dishes such as chicken tail clay pot rice ($98) with bean sauce and crisp chicken skin, sweet-and-sour pork nachos ($58) and oyster spring rolls ($58) with aged vinegar sauce.
Visit eat darling eat this Saturday for a chance to cop a first taste of this new dessert spot. The eatery’s signature pineapple buns filled with fresh pineapple custard will be given away on a first come, first served basis, until stocks last. Better get your queueing shoes ready!
