Last year, it was all about snacks amped up with salted egg yolk, but tastes seem to change in the Kong in a NY minute.
The newest savoury snack superstar goes to F.EAST, potato chips launched in 2017 by a Singaporean husband-and-wife duo showcasing flavours that are redolent of the Lion City and its iconic hawker centres. Popular from the get-go, it won the Best New Brand award at the Asia Food Innovation Awards 2018.
Short for “Flavours of the East”, F.EAST features three flagship flavours that sing of street food in Singapore: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Singapore Laksa and Egg Prata with Fish Curry. Our fave of the trio is the Singapore Laksa for its heavy-handed coconutty, laksa-leaf flavours, but if you’re a spice fiend, check out the Egg Prata with Fish Curry for off-the-chart heat.
The bright packaging is pretty awesome too!
F.EAST crinkle-cut potato chips ($20/70g packet) are available in Hong Kong at 7-Elevens and Wellcome supermarkets (from 5 July 2019) across town.
