Wan Chai’s Woo Cheong Pawn Shop, dating to 1888, is getting washed in history with the introduction of Asia’s first Sophia Loren restaurant, dedicated to the spirit of the famed Italian actress and the vibrancy of Rome in the 1960s and 70s.
Set to open from mid-April, the four-storey Sophia Loren House will be hosting Neapolitan pizza classics at the Sophia Loren Pizzeria, seafood-focused Casa Sophia Loren, dance and music space The Stage, and cocktail bar Pellicola Rooftop, all inside the historic Grade II listed building.
Woo Cheong Pawn Shop previously played host to British restaurant The Pawn and Neapolitan pasticceria Crust. Reinvented with old-school Italiano vibes, catch a taste of la dolce vita from spring with the meeting of Hong Kong and Italian history.
