Shady Acres is closing its doors on Oct. 1 after five years in the business, joining the tranche of other venues shuttering this year (but this one has a good ending).

Stunting the popularity of Peel Street during the pandemic years, Shady Acres has stood as a significant brand in the Soho bar scene, ushering a vibe that other bars cannot naturally produce.

A new wine bar concept will replace the Peel Street bar at the end of October, joining the pack of other successful ventures the Shady Acres bar and restaurant group have launched in Hong Kong, including Honky Tonks Tavern in 2020, Quality Goods Club in 2021, Mendel’s Delicatessen in 2022, and Terracotta Lamma in 2023.

In a press release statement shared exclusively with Foodie on Sep. 17, the group writes, “In a heartfelt message to the community via social media, Shady Acres expressed gratitude for the unwavering support throughout the years, acknowledging the challenges faced during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the evolving landscape of the industry. The closure truly marks the end of an era for the beloved neighbourhood spot.”
