First came the Hainanese chicken rice cake, and now we have a newcomer to the funky cake scene: the savoury, creamy, sweet, and very interesting sweetcorn cake from Guge Cakery.
Imagine a Campbell’s sweetcorn soup can falling in love with a vanilla custard cream cake. You don’t have to because it’s real and you can have it for just HKD88 and up.
The cake features a thick topping of sweetcorn cream soup ice cream, sweetcorn soup cream and sweetcorn-flavoured jelly sandwiched in the middle, and a hazelnut chocolate crunchy base at the bottom. The cake is made mostly out of meringue.
The two-inch cake will cost you HKD88. The three-inch cake is priced at HKD218, the five-inch is HKD488, and the seven-inch is HKD648.
The cake can be ordered on the bakery’s WhatsApp hotline and collected at their factory location in Kwun Tong between 11AM and 6PM Monday through Friday.
