Cantonese watering hole Kinsman has recently launched a cocktail menu that speaks to its home-grown roots with an international twist.

The new menu, dubbed “A Tale of Chinatowns,” pays tribute to five iconic Chinatowns across Asia and beyond, connecting the bar’s Hong Kong heritage to the Chinese diaspora around the world.

Like Kinsman’s two previous menus, this iteration features five chapters, each focusing on a different global Chinatown – Singapore, Manila, Kolkata, Bangkok, and Lima – with two drinks showcased per chapter. The menu itself has been immersively illustrated by local artist Stella Lam.

The tipples are complex and diverse, ranging from Singapore’s Miss Joaquim (HKD130), a floral riff on the paloma made with osmanthus rice wine, elderflower, Chinese rose wine, and rose tofu, to Kolkata’s Raita Gin Fizz (HKD170), which combines two classic Indian flavours alongside hints of calamansi and bamboo-infused baijiu.

We’re most intrigued by the cocktail contender from Lima – Palo Saltado (HKD140) – inspired by Peru’s traditional stir-fried beef dish, lomo saltado. This smoky number is made with rice baijiu, blended Scotch, light soy sauce, tomato, and palo santo smoke.

For those abstaining from alcohol, it’s worth noting that several of these drinks can be made with 0%-ABV alternatives.
