It’s been 10 years since Beckaly Franks – named the Bartenders’ Bartender in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 – brought self-proclaimed NYC-style dive bar The Pontiac to Old Bailey Street in Hong Kong.
Since then, the cool-cat Soho watering hole has gone from strength to strength, picking up award after award for its unbeatable craft cocktails and inclusive rock ’n’ roll vibe. Although Beckaly has now moved on, she’ll be back at The Pontiac on Oct. 10, along with a few of the OG team members, to celebrate with a 10th-anniversary shindig.
The party is set to feature music by DJs Diamond and Gargoyle Girlfriend, a backyard BBQ courtesy of the folks over at BBQ for Friends, and plenty of quality tipples, not least of which come from GM Jen Queen’s newly introduced “Talking Walls” cocktail menu.
The new menu takes its cue from the iconic quotes, graffiti, and messages that have been etched onto the walls of the bar over the past decade. These include the standout First & Last (HKD98), inspired by the quote “the first & last girl i’ll ever be with,” a sweet-meets-savoury tequila-based number mixed with Ribena hibiscus syrup and fenugreek tincture.
Long-time fans of The Pontiac’s signature cocktails will also be pleased to hear that fan-favourite The Hobnail with ginger, lemon, and amaro has been knocked back to its 2015 price of HKD88 for the rest of 2025.
