New restaurants in Hong Kong: July 2026
1. Mala Mia

Mala Mia is a stunner in eastern Tsim Sha Tsui fusing the best of the Caribbean and Polynesia – a far cry from the chaos of the surrounding Mody Road area. The menu runs the gamut from tropical-esque nachos, pizza, and charcoal-grilled skewers to tiki cocktails. Initial menu hits include the spicy tuna on crispy rice (HKD98), grilled pineapple and mango salad (HKD138), and Caribbean jerk chicken (HKD228). When you’re in need of some laid-back holiday vibes, Mala Mia is where it’s at (there’s shisha on board too).

2. Minyoung Fresh Fish Factory

A first for the South Korean brand in the city, Minyoung Fresh Fish Factory is already making waves in North Point for its ultra-fresh Korean-style sashimi, often referred to as hwe, that’s available for dinner until the wee hours. Compared to Japanese sashimi, Korean sashimi is prepped in chunkier slices and served with spicy, vibrant sauces for dipping and lettuce and mint leaves for wrapping, akin to KBBQ. Sharing sets (from HKD850) here are priced by weight, with each inclusive of assorted sashimi, spicy fish roe stew, and sides galore.

3. Yakiniku Yama Oku

Cubus building in Causeway Bay now has a trio of related Japanese restaurants to its name with the launch of Yakiniku Yama Oku, sibling to both Sukiyaki Nakagawa and Teppanyaki Mihara GOTEN on the same floor. In the dramatic, cave-like restaurant space, which offers counter seating for 12 diners, Fukuoka-born chefs Koji Takazono and Koichi Kuga grill up top‑grade Omi and Oita Wagyu, beef tongue, and offal alongside Japanese chicken, pork, and even seasonal game such as venison and wild boar. Priced from HKD480 per person for lunch and from HKD880 per person for dinner, the yakiniku menus can be paired with seasonal sake and whisky highballs for the full experience.

4. The Spoon Focaccia

Mere months after The Spoon kicked off proceedings on Gough Street, the pasta bar – a Foodie Forks 2026 Recommendation – has expanded with a new restaurant located a few streets east in Central, The Spoon Focaccia, open daily from 9:30AM. Run by Malaysian chef Dylan Tan and parnter Carmen Yau, The Spoon Focaccia places the focus on (you guessed it) focaccia, this time with a recipe that’s lighter and airier than is traditional in Italy, presented in creative ways – think pan-seared salami focaccia with tomato brown butter sauce and mascarpone (HKD96), truffle tuna tartare and stracciatella focaccia (HKD92), and French toast focaccia with banana and mascarpone cream (HKD76).

5. Flat Iron Steak The Langham, Hong Kong

Flat Iron Steak has opened an outlet at its swankiest address to date, five-star hotel The Langham, Hong Kong – a first for the brand in Kowloon. Taking over the hotel’s iconic former Main St. Deli site, Hong Kong’s most accessible steakhouse continues to offer its beloved steaks (from HKD168 for lunch), triple-cooked chips, and more comfort-food delights at this Tsim Sha Tsui location. From Wagyu Monday (HKD498 for 2) to half-price Tomahawk Thursday, Flat Iron Steak’s weekday promotions are unbeatable.

6. Curry Room

We move to New Territories to check out Curry Room at YOHO MALL in Yuen Long. Like it says on the tin, Curry Room places the spotlight on a range of Asian curries, all notable for their vegan curry bases, that can be mixed and matched with a choice of main – perhaps vegetables (HKD55/HKD68), slow-cooked beef cheek (HKD57/HKD72), or chicken karaage (HKD62/HKD78) – and a side. The curries include Indian, Indian yoghurt, Japanese, and Thai varieties. Developed by chef Ajay Chopra, a MasterChef India judge, the Indian curries here are the highlights.

7. Ninetta

Belying its diminutive moniker, this JIA Group opening has a powerful trio behind its opening, with chef Antimo Maria Merone and GM Graziano De Gregorio of Michelin-starred Estro and chef Marco Xodo of dearly departed Testina joining forces to bring family-style trattoria Ninetta to life in Central. At the heart of the menu are hand-rolled pasta dishes the likes of the lasagna terrine (HKD188) and tagliatelle with braised duck and Marsala (HKD228), complemented by a crowd-pleasing range of Italian-style hors d’oeuvres, bigger starters, and grilled meat and seafood mains. The tiramisu (HKD108) and pistachio cake (HKD138) are signature sweets.
