On Sep. 3, Singapore-based lifestyle group ICON1C announced the acquisition of the brand and IP of the shuttered private members club 1880 to reopen in Singapore.
Following its Singapore and Hong Kong closure in July, ICON1C co-founder Patrick Grove has confirmed that there were “sadly no immediate plans” to reopen its Hong Kong location as the group prepares for reopening 1880 Singapore in the city-state.
In a press statement shared to 1880’s LinkedIn page on Sep. 3, a spokesperson from ICON1C wrote: “We are delighted to share that ICON1C has acquired the 1880 brand and intellectual property, with the intention of reopening the club in the future.”
“In partnership with former staff and long-standing advocates of 1880, ICON1C is committed to carrying forward the ethos and community that made the club so distinctive. Our priority is to ensure the 1880 spirit remains alive and thriving while we prepare for its next home.”
ICON1C formed in early 2025 in partnership with Kuala Lumpur-based tech company Catcha, led by Patrick Grove, and Mandala Club founder Ben Jones, with a view of becoming “the world’s leader in luxury experiences and private membership”.
European fine-dining restaurant Té Bo, which opened when 1880 Hong Kong launched in November 2024, continues operating in its existing location inside Two Taikoo Place.
