1) Braza Churrascaria in Lan Kwai Fong

Brazillian Steakhouse by Dining Room Concepts pronounced choo-rah-scah-ree-ah. Richard Sandoval’s latest dining experience to arrive in the middle of the city, the concept is to serve a wide variety of different cuts of meat, chicken and seafood in succession, to each diner individually right at their table. They have done away with a traditional menu; Braza focuses more so on an all-you-can-eat continuous table side service.

3) Mana! Raw in Central

Open now, practically on the opposite side of the road to their present store, Mana! will be releasing a wild juicery that is all about the raw food on 97 Wellington St. Evolving further down the slow food path, the felafels are being left behind in favour of customisable juices. Raw vegan desserts, smoothies, super foods, local and organic and all central to the theme, and we are very excited to see a pick up in this scene in Hong Kong.

4) Soi 7 in Central

Modern thai and engaging cocktails, this is duo that cannot do too much damage, especially with the vibin’ location in the middle of Wyndham. Electric tunes blend with artistic asian design, and they are making these vibes available from 11:30 am to midnight (2am Thurs/Fri/Sat) everyday. Wait for dishes like the Thai spring chicken, tiramisu, spicy wings and banana flower salad (pictured below).

6) Meen & Rice in Repulse Bay

Open since 5 March 2015 at The Pulse on Repulse Bay’s picturesque oceanfront, the menu features selection of Hong Kong’s favourite dishes. A fresh take on the four basic Cantonese food groups “juk fun meen faan” “congee, rice noodles, flour noodles, rice,” the 66 seater restaurant reflects the famed noodle shops of Hong Kong in both its food servings and its simple interior design featuring the classic element found in Dai Pai Dongs. Open Monday to Sunday from 11.30am to 10.30pm, dishes such as Fresh Shrimp Wanton Noodle Soup ($38), Home Made Rice Noodle Rolls ($32) and Barbeque Pork Rice ($68) are typically authentic with a reasonable price point for the region they have chosen. Refreshing, though ironic that Dai Pai Dong styles are now penetrating through vogue restaurants, while the original namesakes struggle to survive.

7) Amical + in Causeway Bay
EDIT: Closed permanently 🙁

On 31 – 35 Tang Lung Causeway Bay (same street as Jamie’s Italian and the other restaurants in Midtown building), this offshoot of the popular Wan Chai flagship is decorated tastefully and serves an exceptional cup of coffee. Opening hours are from midday to ten pm, and have epic coffee treats like the matcha cookies, and lavender & white chocolate scones, made with whole wheat flour, honey and lavender from a neighbouring shop. Crispy on the outside and buttery-soft on the inside. Baked fresh every weekend!

There are also four new coffee shops in Central that have opened in the last fortnight, for the more caffeine inclined.

Yes, but is it edible? [digital editor]
