When it comes to the weekend, Hong Kong does brunch. Here are a bunch of new ones we think are worth checking out:
1. NOM

Organic scrambled eggs, fried sage and Pecorino toscano ($88), blood oranges, cardamom and Mascarpone cake loaves ($68) and a Grappa milk punch ($88) (consisting of Villa de Varda Grappa, Amaretto, fresh milk, vanilla syrup, and grated nutmeg) are all offerings on the comfort-food-focused brunch menu.

2. maison es
Crab souffle with lime creme
We think this restaurant is hidden gem, and one of Wan Chai’s best at the moment. Highlights include crabmeat souffle with lime creme ($200), the maison es signature coddled egg on black truffled mash ($120), and a standout croque madame served chef Sham’s favourite way with ham, gruyère, egg and lifted with a drizzle of honey on ciabatta bread.

4. Aberdeen Street Social
Croque Madame with 63 degree egg
We’re pretty sure croque madams have taken out a restraining order against us. We search them on Pinterest, fanatically research where to find the best ones in new cities and faint when recognising the name on a menu. It began in Paris when we found this beauty, but has continued right to Hong Kong, where Ab Street have composed a brilliant iteration replete with 63 degree egg ($98). Order this and the recently re-introduced pastrami sandwich ($128) and have all the munchies covered.
**Note: croque madame is on Ab Street’s all-day menu at the downstairs bistro, not the brunch menu. So you can croque all day long if you fancy.

Brunch: Saturday and Sunday 11:30am to 3:30pm
5. Spoon by Alain Ducasse
Homemade muesli with goji berries, pumpkin and sunflower seeds
Here you’ll find some of the best pastries we have had in HK, muesli filled with all the things you want to eat like pumpkin seeds, goji berries, almonds and sunflower seeds, and for the main course, a selection of either the roast of the day (pray for pork), a steamed wild fillet of fish served with green vegetables or an oven-baked cookpot of cereal and local seasonal vegetables. Delicate, sapid options that strike the balance of health and flavour extraordinarily. $788 per adult and $518 per child (3-6 years old).

6. Posto Pubblico
Grilled chicken, kale and fresh mozzarella panini
Everyone loves Posto, an establishment in Hong Kong, having celebrated their 6th birthday this month. If you are going to come for anything, come for the sandwiches. There are now 10 different types of mouth-watering traditional New York Italian sandwiches. A must try is the “de Blasio” (grilled chicken, kale, fresh mozzarella) for $188 and the Pubblico Meatball Parmigiana Sandwich (veal meatballs, fresh mozzarella) for $268.
New York style brunch is also a thing; egg lovers put your eating pants on and hit up an eggs Brooklyn (breaded eggplant, roasted peppers, hollandaise) WHICH is awesome for vegetarians for a very kind $98 and the eggs DeVito (pork meatball, roasted peppers, tomato hollandaise) for your more meaty friends ($98). We were sneaky and added the tomato hollandaise to the eggs Brooklyn and it was like we finally understood what Celine Dion was singing about.
