Founded in the early 1980s, Danish jewellery brand PANDORA’s popularity continues to surge, with their charm bracelets a particularly coveted item. Their collaboration with Palm Court at The Langham is a fitting one; afternoon tea at the hotel’s luxurious lobby lounge – where there’s even an in-house harpist strumming away – has been a mainstay for decades.
Executive Pastry Chef David Puig pays tribute to PANDORA’s latest Party in Paradise collection, with the sweet treats charmingly (geddit?) displayed in a pretty-in-pink leather jewellery box. The set can be ordered in classic ($348/1; $598/2) and deluxe versions ($528/1; $888/2).
Both versions include innovative sweet and savoury items inspired by the new collection’s colourful, playful charms. For instance, there’s the savoury rainbow-coleslaw and apple salad with pastrami and honey-mustard dressing, which mimics the Burger & Fries charm, Delicious Popcorn (milk-chocolate crémeux, cocoa biscuit, gianduja Chantilly and caramelised popcorn) and Drink to Go (rhubarb-and-strawberry confit, mixed-berry mousse and milk foam) – our favourite.
If you opt for the deluxe set, a tribute to the collection’s Colour Wheel charm – a wee yuzu macaron fashioned to look like a Ferris wheel – will be yours, along with a glass of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut champagne to wash it all down.
Palm Court’s scones and rose preserves also deserve a mention; they’re some of the best in Hong Kong.
The PANDORA afternoon tea set is available from now until 31 August 2018 (3–5:30pm on weekedays and, on weekends and public holidays, from 2:15–4:15pm and 4:30–6:30pm). Each diner will receive a PANDORA tote bag, to be collected at one of three PANDORA shops in TST, while stocks last.
