Open 24 hours a day, Don Don Donki has opened today at Mira Place 2 in Tsim Sha Tsui, and we want to shout the news from the rooftops!

An offshoot of Japan’s biggest discount retailer, Don Quijote (known as “Donki”), Don Don Donki is the Southeast Asian version of the cult shop, with branches in Bangkok, Singapore and now the 852.

Don Don Donki is renting the 15,000-square foot shop at Mira Place for HK$1 million a month.

We’re most excited about the array of food items on offer at DDD, from premium Japanese meat, to sushi and sashimi, to bento boxes stuffed with Wagyu beef sukiyaki and tonkatsu, to the sweetest of the sweet Japanese seasonal fruits, to Japanese instant ramen. A major highlight is the sweet potato “factory”, where yakiimo – or roasted Japanese sweet potatoes – are on offer.

In addition, there are lifestyle and health and beauty sections showcasing thousands of Japanese high-street items, many available in Hong Kong for the first time. Some of the most unique include featherweight 98-gram umbrellas, erasable pens (who knew?) and konjac sponges, which promise facial flawlessness.

Look out for another HK branch (this one at nearly 27,000 square feet), set to open by Christmas this year at the brand-new Ocean Pride (OP Mall) in Tsuen Wan.

December 2019 update: the Tsuen Wan branch of DDD is opening on 12 December at OP Mall!
