This will probably read like something of a love letter to Posto Pubblico, which in a way it kind of is.

Posto Pubblico is a family-run New York-style Italian restaurant that ensures its food is as sustainable as it can possibly be. The team use “clean” ingredients and always try to buy their products from local sources. We feel it’s extremely important to support restaurants that make a conscious effort to not only serve us the best-quality food possible, but also make sure they are doing it in a sustainable way.

The restaurant has a great feel. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the inviting rustic yet modern look. I was seated at one of the booths, which definitely made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

The menu has a number of different selections, which did make it challenging to choose as everything sounded so delicious. However, the waitress was extremely helpful in suggesting different dishes.

I recommend coming with a few friends so that you can share a selection of starters (it’s way too hard to choose). We went a little crazy. We started off with the veal meatballs ($142), which were delicious, covered in a tomato sauce that had a subtle taste but that didn’t overwhelm the meat’s robust flavour. The accompanying gnocco fritto – fried bread – melted in the mouth beautifully. Topped with shredded Parmesan with marinara sauce on the side, this was flavourful in all the right measures.

Additionally, we snacked on the kale salad ($149), which was refreshing and a nice addition of green to all the heavier items we ordered.

We couldn’t not order the burrata ($208), which was gorgeous, paired with fresh tomatoes and basil in a light balsamic and olive oil dressing.

For our mains, we selected the clam linguine ($174), and it somehow managed to be a tasty, light dish but still a very filling one. What really stole the show though was the chicken parmigiana ($195). This was a huge piece of breaded chicken smothered with tomato sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan, cooked perfectly and presented beautifully.

Verdict

We had a very enjoyable dining experience at Posto Pubblico and would most definitely go back. It’s very satisfying finding a restaurant that manages to serve such great-quality food in an environmentally friendly way. All the items we ordered were delicious, and we’re excited to return to taste all the dishes we didn’t try this time around. However, the next time we go, we’ll make sure to save room for dessert!
