The image above is not exactly what you might picture when you think of a typical Hong Kong restaurant, but that’s exactly what makes TREEHOUSE unusual and conveys the feeling that Christian Mongendre is going for – a bit of an oasis of calm amongst the urban jungle, a place to reconnect with the nature that provides the food we eat.
Many will remember – and many may still be mourning – the loss of HOME – Eat to Live on Des Voeux Road Central that closed up suddenly two years ago. Christian’s new healthy, fast-casual, sustainability-focused restaurant will build on the concept of HOME, in the same way that HOME built on what he had learned after co-founding MANA!, MANA! Raw and MANA! Cafe.
Opening 10 September 2019 at H Code in Central, his new restaurant, TREEHOUSE, seeks to become a new “home” for those wishing to eat mindfully and sustainably, with food that, of course, tastes amazing.
TREEHOUSE is a progressive, technology- and chef-driven restaurant that focuses on quality food delivered quickly and responsibly. The restaurant is full of thoughtful design features and uses 100%-recycled plastic furniture, reclaimed wood and lead-free eco-cement and has composting facilities for any remnants of the locally sourced and organic vegetables used to make its signature menu items.
Gluten-free and raw options will feature “bowl” cuisine, sourdough breads, burgers and salads – all completely unprocessed. TREEHOUSE will only serve whole foods, as well as cold-pressed juices, cold-brew coffee, smoothies and kombucha, along with a selection of wine and craft beer.
Stay tuned for our interview with Christian and find out his thoughts on this exciting new concept that’s due to open – touch wood – very soon.
We can’t wait to swing on by to visit this new space!
