In recent weeks, Hong Kong has been struggling with containing the latest outbreak of COVID-19 as well as adjusting to the stricter-than-ever government regulations. Although the government has since removed the total dine-in ban, this was only after witnessing many workers eating in unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions.
Now, Kowloon’s retro-chic hotel Eaton HK has vowed to provide a safe and clean space for anyone seeking a place to eat.
From 11am–3pm and 5–9pm on weekdays, anyone is welcome to bring their meal to Eaton HK’s second-floor ballroom, where they can sit safely at tables spaced 1.5 metres apart as per government guidelines. Tables will be sanitised after each guest’s visit and a maximum of two people will be allowed to sit at each table.
Eaton HK’s ballroom can be accessed via a specially appointed elevator, and all arrivals will have their temperature checked before being granted entry to the property. Diners are required to remove and dispose of their own meal containers and cutlery afterwards.
In another charitable initiative, Eaton has also launched the Pay It Forward meal programme to enable Eaton Foodhall visitors to add an additional meal to their order and donate it to someone in need. Customers can grab delicious meals from signature bar Flower Years, Vietnamese eatery Fûhn and local diner Souper Kitchen to participate in this campaign. Simply purchase an additional meal and the credit will be claimed by someone in need. In addition, each of these vendors will donate free meals daily on their own.
Pay It Forward meals are available daily from 12–8pm (depending on government regulations), starting from Saturday, 8 August.
