Starting with last year’s anti-government protests and continuing to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a lot of disruptions in the F&B industry, with beloved eateries closing left, right and centre (so many, in fact, that we gave up even attempting to list them all).

But this closure is different. Modern European Café Gray Deluxe opened back in 2009 on the 49th floor of snazzy boutique hotel The Upper House, a creation of legendary New York–based Swiss chef Gray Kunz (who died earlier this year). Over the past 11 years, we’ve spent many a brunch, afternoon tea and evening enjoying the restaurant’s relaxed approach to fine dining combined with its unbeatable views.

The Upper House has sadly just announced the imminent closure of Café Gray Deluxe, with its last service set for 31 December. A new dining concept will be revealed in spring 2021.

Until December, be sure to stop by Café Gray Deluxe for a final meal or two, with a farewell five-course wine-pairing menu ($1,200/person) being offered showcasing Chef Kunz’s signature dishes such as tarragon-scented lobster bisque, braised beef short rib and chilled soup of chrysanthemum and pear.
