The full list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 was announced at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Seoul, South Korea, on Mar. 26, claiming surprises and shocks for the 50 best restaurants in the region.

SÉZANNE in Tokyo, Japan, was named The Best Restaurant in Asia for the first time. This fine-dining French restaurant located at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi is helmed by chef Daniel Calvert, pictured below, formerly of Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred BELON.

Six restaurants from Hong Kong placed on the list, including The Chairman (4), WING (5), moving up an incredible 32 spots from last year and taking home the Highest Climber Award, Neighborhood (16), MONO (27), Caprice (32), and Andō (37).

Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn’s Le Du in Bangkok, Thailand, fell to 12th place after clinching the top spot on the 2023 list. Hong Kong’s The Chairman, ranked The Best Restaurant in Asia in 2021, still claims a strong footing in the top 50, with Danny Yip, its chef-owner, earlier honoured with this year’s Icon Award.

New restaurants joining the ranks in 2024 include our city’s Andō, August in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Meet the Bund in Shanghai, China.

Released earlier in the month, six Hong Kong restaurants also feature on the extended 51–100 list, with Xin Rong Ji placing at number 52. The other five venues making the cut include Ta Vie (55), VEA (68), Estro (71), GODENYA (88), and Howard’s Gourmet (100).
