Jhu Jian, Taiwan’s famous hotpot brand – with over 130 branches in the country – has opened its first local branch in Mong Kok, offering crazy-affordable prices.
The hotpot-for-one restaurant has 12 soup bases to choose from, with the cheapest – stone soup base, bovine bone marrow, and Canton condensed chicken – starting at just HKD25.
Other bases, such as the Korean-style spicy beef-bone broth (HKD30) and spicy milky herbal soup (HKD40), come with an extra hit of heat.
Whilst the soup bases might be some of the cheapest in Hong Kong, the meat and seafood picks also strike an affordable balance. Streaky beef (HKD160/120g), pork belly (HKD140/120g), and lamb (HKD160/120g) are worthy orders for your meaty cravings.
The hotpot restaurant affords diners 100 minutes to eat, with more than 30 vegetables, tofu, spices, sauces, and speciality Taiwanese ingredients to pour into your soup!
