The main course also comes with a selection of options; our vote goes to the classic Spanish dish of broken eggs with chorizo or you can up the ante and revel in the carabineros rice (+HKD80). For dessert, we’d keep it simple and summery and go for the ice-cream sandwich stuffed with Madagascar vanilla ice cream.

Zoku Restaurant & The Terrace
Another hotel brunch we rate highly is Zoku’s at The Hari, this time for Japanese abundance. The multi-course brunch menu (HKD568 pp for 4 courses; HKD688 pp for 5 courses) features either seasonal sashimi or oysters to kick things off, followed by a selection of otsumami (snacks) like Wagyu gyoza with foie gras, a variety of signature sushi, a main course (we love the sounds of the lobster tsukemen, surōkukku beef brisket, and vegetarian, mushroom-loaded himematsutake kake udon). Then there’s a dessert platter where salted caramel sando and hojicha crème brûlée compete for attention. We recommend adding on the “Champagne vs Sake” free-flow package, which comes with a range of premium champers and three grades of sake for your drinking pleasure.

ODDS
Revamping its F&B programme to integrate the menu of another popular LUBUDS Japanese restaurant, ANA TEN at Harbour City, ODDS has pivoted to a more casual Japanese dining experience. With this change comes a new brunch menu (HKD688 pp) that takes an extremely generous approach; it comes with a seasonal sashimi platter, a main course, such as eel donburi or beef teppanyaki, and (the best bit) unlimited snacks – with over 30 Japanese dishes to feast on, ranging from spicy tuna salad and edamame, to California roll and shrimp tempura roll, to chicken karaage and deep-fried horse mackerel.

JUNO
We recently enjoyed a lunch tasting at new-Mediterranean-kid-on-the-block JUNO, and the Sheung Wan restaurant helmed by chef Jordi Vallés Claverol has now introduced a leisurely brunch menu (HKD308 pp) showcasing two appetisers, a main, and dessert. Recommended appetiser choices include the Provençal-style aubergine caviar drenched in pine nuts, mint, basil, and honey and the Middle Eastern chickpea hummus. On to the mains, opt for either the JUNO truffle tagliolini for a bit of indulgence or the seasonal fish baked Côte d’Azur style, with the freshness of tomato, courgette, aubergine, and sage added to the mix. The classic French and Italian desserts range from tarte tatin to tiramisu (+HKD20).

The Mistral
Reopening recently on the first floor of the InterContinental Grand Stanford, The Mistral’s Sunday-only Harbour View Brunch (HKD688/adult; HKD388/child aged 7–11) by chef Fabio Guaglione is Italian brunch bliss at its finest. The semi-buffet spread offers a fresh seafood bar of Alaskan crab legs, Boston lobster, yellowfin tuna carpaccio, and more, plus an antipasti table laden with Italian cold cuts and artisanal cheeses. Next up, head to the pasta corner for handmade pasta and risotto, followed by a decadent main course (perhaps veal loin with girolle mushroom or M4 Australian Wagyu tenderloin with foie gras mousse). Finally, savour a European-esque sweet finale by digging into cannoli, black truffle burnt cheesecake, and one-metre-long millefeuille.

The Sixteenth
Ideal for those with little ones in tow, this family-friendly Kids’ Brunch at Pirata Group’s sprawling Taikoo Place dining complex The Sixteenth – either at Italian trattoria La Favorita (HKD398 pp) or sushi specialist Honjokko (HKD498 pp) – features lots of activities to keep the kiddos entertained whilst the grown-ups are busy wining and dining. There’s face painting, balloon twisting, a playroom, and even a cinema set-up! Even better, when it comes to the price tag, kids 6 and under eat for free and those aged 7–12 are half-price!
March 2024 update: The Sixteenth has just unveiled the Saturday Brunch (HKD520 pp) at La Favorita and Honjokko, blending the robust flavours of Italy with the delicate finesse of Japan. Honjokko executive chef Kyle Lee and La Favorita head chef Filippo Bencini’s brunch menu is an East-meets-West wonder, filled with dishes like burrata caprese, pappardelle with beef and mushroom ragù, tempura, salmon avocado and hamachi maki, and robata pork belly.

Melody: House of Food & Music
New to the Sai Ying Pun ‘hood, Melody has launched a rock ’n’ roll three-course brunch menu (HKD388 pp) to match its cool surrounds. Chef Jamie Draper has curated a menu that spotlights big, bold, salty flavours, with the Josper taking centre stage. Sharing plates like house-made sausages, terrine campagnarde, tuna tartare, and burnt aubergine escabeche get things off to a cracking start, followed by a choice of main – we love the roast three-yellow chicken and quarter suckling pig for meaty options, but the truffle and mushroom lasagne is a notable veggie dish. End with a serving of passion-fruit pavlova or sticky toffee pudding. Up the ante to include 2.5 hours of free-flow drinks – mocktails for HKD788 per person or champagne, wine, beer, spritzes, and spirits for HKD988 per person. In true Melody spirit, resident and guest DJs are on board at brunch too.
If you’re brunching here on a Sunday, a classic British Sunday roast (HKD388) with all the trimmings is a fab brunch option. Live acoustic performances are another Sunday brunch bonus.

Sabatini ifc mall
Originating in Rome in 1958, Sabatini has been a mainstay at The Royal Garden hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui for 35 years, expanding recently with a new branch at ifc mall in Central. At this elegant Hong Kong Island outpost, chef Marco Antonio Li Voti whips up an authentic Italian brunch menu (HKD898/adult; HKD629/child aged 3–11) that begins and ends with a bang – an elaborate antipasti spread kicks things off, including Boston lobster, snow-crab legs, and ifc-exclusive dishes of vitello tonnato and zucchini trifolati, with a dessert table rounding off the meal with gusto. In between, there’s 10g of caviar per person, live stations where the likes of black truffle scrambled egg on toast and Fassone beef tartare make appearances, a choice of pasta or risotto, and then a main course of either pan-seared toothfish or roasted Australian M5 Wagyu. Trust us – you can skip dinner with this one…

TANGO Argentinian Steakhouse
Relocating to brand-new, spruced-up digs in Lan Kwai Fong after over a decade on the Hong Kong dining scene, Foodie fave TANGO presents a reasonably priced brunch menu (HKD218 pp) that always tempts with its meaty, hearty flavours, noteworthy for its hormone- and antibiotic-free Aberdeen Angus beef selection from the heart of the pampas region in Buenos Aires province. The brunch menu includes a starter, main, side, and soft drink. Traditional Argentinian empanadas filled with beef, chicken, pork, or cheese are a must-order to start, and for the main, it’s all about the bife de ancho (rib-eye steak) for us. If you’re dining with a friend and prefer sharing, we recommend going for the El Plato (HKD688 for 2) option, which includes an overloaded platter of grilled hanger steak, chorizo, morcilla, salchicha parrillera Argentinian sausage, and smoked duck breast – and that’s all in addition to two starters, two sides, and two soft drinks.
