Emmer Pizzeria & Café is one of our favourite restaurants in Admiralty, and they’ve recently expanded nearby to Central with an outpost at BaseHall 01.

Emmer is well known for its quality pizzas that are crafted with low-gluten and nutrient-rich emmer wheat, and at BaseHall 01, the pies on offer range from the cheese-free vegan marinara pizza (HKD118) with cherry tomato, caper, and black olive to the dolce diavola pizza (HKD168) topped with pepperoni, spicy tomato sauce, and honey.

Even more tempting for us at this BaseHall location are Emmer’s newly introduced panini and panuozzi. The grilled Italian sandwiches known as panini are probably familiar to most Hong Kongers, here offered with East-meets-West fillings like Italian Thanksgiving (HKD68) with roasted turkey, scamorza, cranberry mustard, and baby spinach and miso BBQ eggplant (HKD62) with miso-roasted aubergine, scamorza, pickle, and onion.

However, it’s Emmer’s panuozzi, a Neapolitan street-food speciality of stuffed pizza bread, that are supposedly a first for Hong Kong. The four panuozzi options offered at Emmer include the meatball panuozzo (HKD108), zucchini parmigiana panuozzo (HKD78), spicy pepperoni panuozzo (HKD88), and Italian fried chicken panuozzo (HKD88).
