The governor of Kagoshima in Japan, the nation’s top region for shochu production, has appointed The Aubrey’s Devender Sehgal as the “Kagoshima Shochu Ambassador.”
During an official visit from the Kagoshima government to the Hong Kong cocktail bar last week, Devender was applauded for his ambassadorial efforts to promote “The Kingdom of Shochu” in Hong Kong and the region’s top spirit producers. More than 2,000 shochu brands can be found in Kagoshima Prefecture.
Throughout the month of November, The Aubrey is hosting the “Kagoshima Shochu Journey,” promoting craft cocktails made with Kagoshima shochu.
The lychee-strong Itsuki (HKD170), negroni-style Kota (HKD170), Amami Island (HKD170) piña colada variation, and tea-infused Tropical Tree (HKD170) are available during the month-long festivities at the cocktail bar.
The Aubrey at the Mandarin Oriental hotel notably won the Foodie Forks 2024 Readers’ Choice – Best Bar award in May earlier this year.
