There are many reasons to love Japan’s culinary landscape, with the nation’s bakery scene a particular favourite. These baked goods are not necessarily sweet either; nearing the top of our must-try list is salt bread, a heavenly all-in-one salty, buttery, carby package.

TruffleBAKERY, a Tokyo-based chain founded in 2017, takes this salt bread up a notch with its signature white truffle salt bread (HKD23), aromatic to the max from the inclusion of Alba white truffle oil and French truffle salt. This delectable bread with its addictive chewy, mochi-like texture can now be found in Causeway Bay at the brand’s first Hong Kong outpost.

There’s so much more to enjoy at this Japanese bakery specialising in truffle-infused delights, both sweet and savoury. Bestsellers include the black truffle egg sandwich (HKD39) and chocolate truffle salt bread (HKD27), a creation exclusive to Hong Kong filled with rich dark chocolate cream, cardamom bun (HKD23), and krapufen cinnamon bread (HKD23).

Also exclusive to Hong Kong is the osmanthus oolong and fig sourdough (HKD78) loaf, ideal for toasting.
