Japan’s viral Chiikawa character is coming to Hong Kong in the form of a Chiikawa-themed ramen restaurant opening in Mong Kok.

Chiikawa Ramen Buta Hong Kong is opening on Aug. 16 as the Japanese ramen chain’s largest store to date, accommodating 87 guests at one time to enjoy a soothing bowl of ramen noodles and celebrate all things Chiikawa.

Chiikawai is a web manga series produced by Doga Kobo featuring a series of hamster-like creatures navigating life. It premiered in April 2022 and finished its first season in March 2025.

The new shop will be serving three sizes of their classic pork-broth ramen, Chiikawa (HKD115, 130g), Hachiware (HKD135, 200g), and Usagi (HKD150, 300g). Chiikawa-themed beverages include melon soda (HKD48), white soda (HKD48), and black oolong tea (HKD38)

Customers can feed into their Chiikawa obsession with gifts available for purchase in-store, such as a Chiikawa Donburi (HKD150) bowl, face towel (HKD120), and beer glass (HKD130)

Early booking has already opened on KKday for reservations, with spaces from Sep. 16-20 available from Sep. 1
