Unlike other hotel buffets around town, Food Studio, Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel’s sleek new buffet concept, focuses on quality rather than quality, highlighted by the use of responsibly sourced ingredients such as MSC- or ASC-certified seafood and cage-free eggs.

In a nod to its Wan Chai location, Food Studio’s modern design is inspired by the ferries and trams of that neighbourhood. With a sense of theatrics, the chefs on board here cook at live stations in full view of diners.

The eatery’s tempting international signature dishes are too many to count, but standouts for us include the sea urchin taco with caviar, Japanese garlic and lobster fried rice, Sichuan-spiced Wagyu with crispy lotus root, fire-grilled tiger prawns, and roasted suckling pig.

Like any buffet worth its salt, the selection of seafood on ice at Food Studio is also noteworthy, as is the dessert spread, with the likes of Basque cheesecake, Valrhona raspberry chocolate cake, pistachio choux, and lemon meringue tart up for sampling.

Food Studio is open daily for breakfast (6:30–10:30AM), lunch (12–2:30PM), and dinner (6:30–9:30PM). To celebrate its grand opening, the restaurant is offering a 30%-off early-bird promotion on the hotel’s eShop until Sept. 14 for its lunch and dinner services from Sep. 16 till Oct. 31.
